Community update Sir moses Montefiore and Eastcliff 12/07/2026

Hello everyone,

I wanted to provide a brief update on some of the work carried out by the Ramsgate Beat Team today and give residents an insight into the variety of incidents your local officers deal with on a daily basis.

Safeguarding a Missing Child

One of the most important incidents involved reports of a missing seven-year-old child. Thankfully, thanks to the vigilance of members of the public and the quick response of officers, the child was located safe and well. My colleagues and I were able to return him home and carry out safeguarding measures with the family to help prevent a similar situation from occurring in the future. We are grateful to those members of the public who assisted by remaining alert and reporting concerns promptly.

Drug Possession Discovered During Patrol

Whilst on patrol, a colleague and I noticed three males attempting to avoid our attention. Following a stop search, the three were found to be in possession of small amounts of herbal cannabis. Their details were recorded and the matters will be dealt with through the appropriate processes.

Wanted Shoplifter Arrested

Later in the day, I spotted and arrested a known shoplifter who was wanted in connection with offences in Margate. Following his arrest, it was established that he had committed a further theft just minutes beforehand. As a result, over £130 worth of stolen goods were recovered and returned to the store in a saleable condition. The male remains in custody as enquiries continue into this and other offences.

Further Shoplifting Offence Prevented

While returning from custody and heading back into Ramsgate for foot patrol, another suspected shoplifter was identified and detained for a stop search. The male was found to be in possession of stolen goods valued at approximately £109 from a local supermarket. The items were recovered and returned to the store, and the male was arrested and taken into custody.

This snapshot of just one day's work highlights the wide range of incidents your local Beat Team responds to – from safeguarding vulnerable children and tackling drug possession to preventing retail crime and supporting local businesses. Visible patrols and proactive policing remain a key part of our commitment to keeping Ramsgate a safe place to live, work and visit.
